Lake Skinner Trip

This was campsite w/full hookups and a pull through site. Camp ground B has a lake view and a short walk to the lake. There are 3 camp grounds, A,B, & C, I recommend C if your looking for a pull through site. No cable TV hookups in any of the camp grounds. This was our 1st weekend trip with our FW to checkout everything. We went to Skinner Lake with is only an hour away from home. We had planned on leaving on Friday night but we got the 1st good rain of the winter and decided to leave Saturday morning. We had a light rain on Saturday and a heavy rain that night, but Sunday morning was beautiful. These pictures were taken on Monday morning.
Below is a picture toward the mountains near Hemet. In the forefront is the park near the boat launch. The park has a beautiful swimming pool.
Above is a picture of the camp ground we stayed at. Each site has full hook ups, NO cable TV, a fire ring and table. There are 4 camp hosts in each camp ground, they were very helpful and friendly. The picture above is the view of the lake we had. It was a very short walk to the lake. The sunsets over the lake were beautiful that weekend. We spoke to a few of the fishermen but nobody was having luck that weekend, but they were having fun.
We were surprised on how easy it was to setup the FW for the 1st time. We had spent a lot of prep time at home stocking the FW and getting to know it before our 1st trip. It sure paid off, driving in the rain was not a problem, no leaks, and no items fell out of any of the cupboards.
Here's Danni relaxing and reading her book. We both did a lot of reading that weekend, we also went for a lot of walks with the dogs. We checked out all 3 camp grounds on our walks to see what which site we would like to reserve next, but found that we had a great site. Here's Rosie on her 1st camping trip, she did great for the 1st time out. She didn't bark at anyone or the other dogs. She had a great time when we let both Molly and Rosie loose in the large field by the park.
Our second trip to Skinner was great, we went out on the President's holiday weekend. This time we stayed in campground A and it was very nice, it's closer to the grass area which our dogs liked. I was able to leave early but my wife had to work, so I hooked up the 5th wheel and left for the Lake on Friday. My wife's co-worker lives close by and dropped her off at the Lake that evening, we had a great dinner with our friends that night.
That Saturday my in-laws stopped by for lunch and my father-in-law and I went off to the casino to lose a little money before lunch. We had a great visit with my wife's parents that afternoon. The rest of the weekend was ours to enjoy. We went for walks with the dogs, read, and watched some movies that we haven't had time to see.
We lucked out that weekend, NO rain, but it was cloudy and cool. We left on Sunday afternoon, it only takes us about a half hour to pack-up everything now that we have a system. The dogs did great and we found out that they love to go camping. When I pulled into the Lake they both got excited because they remembered the first trip.
We took another weekend trip in April to Skinner and had a good time. I don't know what it is, but the last 3 times we been out there it's rained at least one day that we are there. This was most likely our last trip before we head up to Big Bear, but I know for sure it was the last trip for our truck. Just before this trip we purchased a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500HD crew cab with the Duramax diesel and it is sweet. No more worrying about the hills and the weight. This truck has power and fuel economy due to the 5 speed Allison automatic transmission with the tow mode. I'm having the hitch and electric brake control installed next week after I get the Rhino liner installed. I have a Reese 15K that will work great with this new truck.
My wife gets her truck back now the way she likes it. It's the blue one one in the pictures, but now the tonneau cover is back on and I removed the Reese hitch. I also had a FlowMaster installed and a chrome tip on the tail pipe for her, she loves the sound. I guess the next thing is new wheels and she will be really happy.
We already have our next trip planned and booked, we are going to stay in Big Bear Lake for a week in June. We are looking forward to this trip, we usually rent a cabin for the week but this time we our going to stay in our trailer. We may even book another week in October, were not sure yet.
