Big Bear Photo Gallery

Here are the latest pictures from our vacation at Big Bear Lake. We stayed at Holloway's Marina Campground, it was a great place to stay. The campground was very clean, the people were great, and it was close to everything.
We did a lot of shopping in the antique shops in the area, but we also drove into the back country. We explored the back country and had a great time. We just drove all over the back roads above Fawnskin toward Holcomb Valley. We stopped and took some pictures along the way.
We had our friends come up for the weekend to enjoy the sunshine, it was June gloom back home. It was nothing but blue skies and warm weather all week, 80-88 in the daytime and 41-42 at night. The wind would pick up off the lake in the evenings but it wasn't to bad. We went for our evening walks everyday with the dogs. The dogs loved it up there, they seem to like camping. They behaved better than other dogs, but they had their moments.
We met a alot of nice people during our stay at Holloway's and found that a large amount keep a trailer for the Summer at the park and come up the mountain for the weekends. The monthly rates were very inexpensive and it sure beats renting a cabin every weenkend or paying the weekend rates at the park. They also let their friends use their trailers during the week, so it works out well for those people.

Campsites

Nice level campsites with full hookups, cable TV, 30AMP elecltic, water, and sewer.

I had to work around this tree in the middle of road to park the trailer. It only took me 3 times to get in there but the Holloway staff help you in parking your trailer.

Our Camp Site

Our site was very nice, we had two trees for shade. Nice and level, great people all around.

One of the three docks in the marina. Lots of boat rentals, party boats to small fishing boats.

Good picture of the third dock looking across the bay.

Picture of the main dock.

Here's Danni kicking back and working on her cross stitch.

Looking across the bay toward Highway 18.

Here I am getting a little wood carving in.

Here's Molly and Rose in their kennel, we forgot their kennel at home and had to drive to Victorville to Pets Mart to buy a new one. This one is staying in the trailer.

Here's another picture across the bay.

Here's Molly enjoying the sun.

Here's Rose in the sun.

This is the picture of the main parking lot for the marina.

Here's the other side of the parking lot with the boat and trailer parking.

Here's Danni again relaxing.

Here I am sitting on top of a large rock, you can't tell by this picture but it's about 30' high.

Danni poising in the sun, we loved the view on this drive.

There are a lot of dead trees in the area, the area has suffered because of lack of water.

Here is a beautiful view of the forest from the road.

If you look close, there are about 30 kids on a large rock in the middle of the picture. They are from the YMCA camp about 3 miles away. It must have been a great hike from the camp.

I liked this lone tree, it looked like there was a nest on top.

I love these mountain flowers, they are everywhere.

Here's another view from the dirt road.

Up the road from here is the ranger look out tower.

Just sitting on another rock.

Here's the road out heading back to Fawnskin.

Here's Danni resting on a large rock.

Danni look this picture through the trees, it turned out to be a beautiful picture.

Danni like this tree stump because it looked like a water fountain.

Gloria and Danni on our last day in Big Bear.

Our friends Guy and Gloria enjoying the sun.

Having a good time.

The Shoe Tree

This is the Shoe Tree near Baldwin Lake.

Another picture of the Shoe tree. There hundreds of shoes in this tree, some even look new.

Danni and the Shoe tree.

Another view of the Shoe Tree, it really is cool. I'm hamming it up at the base of the tree.
